ENG 3215

New Holland ENG 3215 – ENGINE: Bank1 Warning - Application Dependent

Issue description

An electrical anomaly, warning, or fault detected in the fuel injection circuit for Bank 1 (injector circuit for cylinders 1, 2, and 3). The engine controller has detected an issue such as a current level error, fast decay, or an open/short circuit on this specific bank of injectors.

Applies to these machines

  • T8 Series
  • T8.320
  • T8.350
  • T8.380
  • T8.410
  • T7 Series
  • T6 Series
  • T5 Series
  • T6000 Series
  • T7000 Series
  • Magnum 235-340 (Series 4)
  • Maxxum
  • Puma
  • Optum

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the external engine wiring harness leading from the Engine ECU to the valve cover pass-through connector for Bank 1. Look for chafing, melted wires, or shorts to ground.

  2. Disconnect the 89-pin or 36-pin connector at the Bosch EDC7 ECU and check for pushed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture.

  3. Disconnect the injector harness and use a multimeter to test the resistance of the injectors on Bank 1 (Cylinders 1-3).

  4. If the external wiring and ECU pins are good, check the internal fuel injector wire harness under the valve cover for heat degradation and oil intrusion.

Repair steps

  1. Prep the Machine

Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Remove Valve Cover

Clean the area around the valve cover to prevent debris from entering the engine. Remove the valve cover bolts and lift off the valve cover.

  3. Disconnect the Harness

Carefully disconnect the electrical leads from the fuel injectors on Bank 1.

  4. Replace the Harness/Injector

If the harness is brittle or failed testing, remove the pass-through connector from the cylinder head and install the new injector wire harness. If a specific injector failed the resistance test, remove the fuel lines and injector hold-down clamp, pull the injector, and replace it with a new Bosch/FPT unit.

  5. Reassembly

Install a new valve cover gasket and reinstall the valve cover. Torque all bolts to OEM spec.

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or a compatible diagnostic scanner to clear the ENG 3215 fault code and verify the repair.
