New Holland ENG 3220 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Bank2 - Application Dependent

Issue description

An electrical anomaly detected on the fuel injector wiring circuit for 'Bank 2' of the engine (cylinders 4, 5, and 6), indicating a fault such as a short circuit, open load, or abnormal current draw.

Check the cause

  1. Check for concurrent codes in the 3218–3225 range using the New Holland EST to narrow down if Bank 2 has a short-to-ground or an open circuit

  2. Inspect the engine wiring harness routing from the ECM to the Bank 2 injectors for chafing, melted insulation (especially near exhaust or EGR), or pinched wires

  3. Disconnect the Bank 2 injector harness connectors and check for oil wicking into the connectors or corrosion at the pins

  4. Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the solenoid pins of the Bank 2 fuel injectors to check for an internally shorted injector solenoid

  5. Perform a continuity and short-to-ground test on the harness between the ECM connector and the injector connectors

Repair steps

  7. Reconnect all injector terminals and seat the main ECM connector firmly.
