   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or use the machine's onboard diagnostic display to verify the fault code is currently active

   Prior to clearing the code, write down the fault code, the number of occurrences, and the engine hours at the last occurrence

   Use the EST (or onboard display) to clear the fault code from the ECU's memory

   Reset the Engine Control Unit (ECU) by turning the ignition switch to the OFF position, waiting for the system to power down, and then turning it back to the ON position

   Start and operate the machine. If the fault code does not return, the machine is OK to return to service

   Remove the faulty ECU

   Disconnect the negative battery terminal, unplug the main wiring harnesses from the Engine Control Unit, and unbolt the module from its mounting bracket.

   Install the new Engine Control Unit and reconnect the wiring harnesses.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to flash the ECU with the correct software dataset and variant configuration specific to the machine's VIN/Serial Number.
