This fault code indicates an internal hardware or software error within the engine's control module. Specifically, the Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC)—the component responsible for translating analog sensor signals into digital data for the computer—has failed its internal diagnostic "test impulse" check.

   Verify that the battery voltage is stable and that the alternator is not overcharging or emitting AC voltage ripple, which can scramble ADC readings.

   Inspect the main wiring harness connecting to the EDC/ECM for chafed wires, water intrusion, or loose pins that could cause intermittent short circuits.

   Disconnect the ECM/EDC plugs, check for corrosion or bent pins, clean with contact cleaner, and securely reconnect.

   Clear the fault codes and cycle the ignition. If the code immediately returns as an active/hard fault, the internal ADC circuit is permanently damaged.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Engine Control Module (typically mounted directly to the side of the engine block or on the firewall, depending on the model).

   Carefully unplug the multi-pin connectors. Remove the mounting bolts and extract the EDC unit.

   Because ENG 3255 is an internal board failure, the module itself cannot be repaired in the field. You must either install a new OEM module or send the existing unit to a specialized heavy-equipment electronics repair facility for board-level reconditioning.
