New Holland ENG 3265 – Engine Controller (EDC / Engine ECU): Injector: Overrun Monitoring - Injection Time Too Long

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected that the fuel injection time is exceeding the maximum allowable limit during an 'overrun' condition. Specifically, the sum of all torque-forming energizing times of an individual cylinder exceeds the mapped limit for more than 100 test events.

   Check for related codes: Look for concurrent speed sensor or injector circuit faults (e.g., ENG 3266). If speed sensor codes are present, troubleshoot those first.

   Electrical resistance test: Disconnect the engine injector harness from the pump control valve and injectors. Check the resistance of the solenoid coils (typically around 3.2 Ω).

   Harness inspection: Inspect the wiring harness between the EDC and the fuel injectors for chafing, shorts to ground, or shorts to battery voltage.

   Mechanical injector check: Determine if an injector is mechanically sticking open or leaking.

   Connect Diagnostic Tool

   Use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify the fault code and monitor live fueling rates and engine speed signals during a deceleration test.

   Isolate the Fault

   If the wiring harness and speed sensors test perfectly, the issue is likely a failing fuel injector that is hanging open or an internal EDC fault failing to shut off the injector driver.

   Replace Faulty Component

   If a specific injector is identified as the culprit via cylinder contribution tests or electrical failure, depressurize the fuel system and replace the faulty fuel injector.

   Reprogramming

   If a new injector is installed, use the CNH EST to program the new injector's trim codes (IQA codes) into the Engine ECU.

   Clear and Road Test

   Clear the ENG 3265 code. Perform a test drive under load, ensuring you allow the machine to coast/decelerate to force the engine into overrun operation. Verify the code does not return.
