New Holland ENG 3267 – ENGINE: SCV(+) Output Short to Battery; SCV(-) Output Short to Battery
Issue description
The engine control module has detected an abnormally high voltage on the SCV control circuit (either the positive or negative wire). This condition is typically caused by a wiring harness shorting to a power source, an internal short within the SCV solenoid coil, or an internal failure within the engine control module.

6 machines- E75CSR
- E85CMSR
- New Holland Construction equipment
- CR9.90
- T7 series
- T8 series
Check the cause
Inspect the SCV connector and the wiring harness routed between the Engine ECU and the high-pressure fuel pump for chafed wires, pinched insulation, or areas rubbing against a power source.
Disconnect the SCV connector and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals.
With the key ON (engine off), backprobe the SCV connector and measure the voltage on the control wires to check for a short to battery voltage (e.g., a constant 12V or 24V on a signal/ground wire).
Measure the resistance of the SCV coil at the component connector and compare it to the OEM specification (typically 5–40 ohms). An extremely low reading indicates an internal short in the solenoid.
If the wiring and SCV test fine, inspect the Engine ECU pins for damage or test for an internal ECU short.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical damage.
Harness Repair (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to battery in the wiring harness, repair the damaged section of the wire and apply heat-shrink tubing, or replace the affected harness section.
SCV Replacement (If Applicable)
Clean the area around the high-pressure fuel pump to prevent dirt from entering the fuel system. Disconnect the electrical connector from the SCV. Remove the mounting fasteners securing the SCV to the fuel pump. Carefully extract the old SCV. Lubricate the O-rings on the new SCV with clean diesel fuel or engine oil. Insert the new SCV into the pump and torque the fasteners to the manufacturer's specification.
Reassembly & Verification
Reconnect the SCV electrical connector and the battery. Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the ENG 3267 fault code. Start the engine, check for fuel leaks around the pump, and verify that the engine operates without returning to limp mode or triggering the code again.
