New Holland ENG 3272 – Engine Control Module (ECM): Fuel Low Pressure Sensor - Signal Above Range Max.
Issue description
The signal voltage returning from the low-pressure fuel sensor to the engine computer is exceeding the maximum allowable threshold. This condition is typically caused by an electrical issue, such as a short circuit to a high-voltage source (like the battery), an open circuit/cable break, or an internally shorted sensor.
Applies to these machines
4 machines- New Holland T8.xxx Series tractors
- New Holland CR9090 combine
- New Holland CX8080 Elevation combine
- New Holland CX8090 Elevation combine
Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the fuel low-pressure sensor for chafed wires causing a short circuit to the battery/high voltage source, or a cable break/open circuit.
Check the sensor connector and ECM pins for corrosion or pushed-out pins.
Perform a mechanical pressure test by installing a compound test gauge (Part Number: 380100056) at the inlet of the low-pressure pump (after the primary filter) to measure the physical vacuum/pressure of the system and rule out an actual extreme pressure anomaly.
Use a multimeter to verify the sensor supply voltage and ground at the connector. If the signal wire is receiving full battery voltage, trace the harness for a short.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to protect the ECM.
Repair Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a short circuit or broken wire in the harness, repair the damaged section or replace the sensor pigtail connector.
Replace the Sensor
If the wiring tests perfectly and the mechanical fuel pressure is within specification, the sensor itself has failed internally. Remove the old fuel low-pressure sensor and install the new one.
Clear the Code
Reconnect the battery. Use the CNH EASy diagnostic tool (or a compatible CAN-bus DTC eraser) to clear the inactive fault code from the ECM's memory.
Test Run
Start the engine and verify that the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) remains off and the code does not return.
