New Holland ENG 3283 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC: EDC: Sensor Supply Voltage 2 - High
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU/EDC) provides three independent 5-volt reference voltage supplies to power various engine sensors. Fault code 3283 indicates that the voltage on Sensor Supply Circuit 2 is reading too high. This typically means the 5V reference wire is shorted to a higher voltage source (like a 12V battery power wire), a sensor on that circuit has failed internally and is bleeding voltage, or the ECU itself has an internal fault.
Applies to these machines
11 machines- T7 Series
- T8 Series
- L220
- SR130
- SR160
- SR175
- B110B
- W190B
- CR9090
- CX8080

Check the cause
Check battery voltage to ensure the machine's alternator is not overcharging the system, causing excessive voltage readings.
Inspect the wiring harness for Sensor Supply 2 from the EDC to connected sensors for chafed, melted, or pinched wires shorting to a 12V power source.
Isolate the sensors on the Supply 2 circuit by disconnecting them one at a time while monitoring circuit voltage to identify an internally shorted sensor.
Test the EDC for an internal failure if all sensors are unplugged and the wiring harness tests good with no shorts to battery.
Repair steps
Clear error code and test
Connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) and clear the error code. Run the machine under normal conditions to see if the code returns as an active fault.
Perform sensor isolation test
If the code is active, perform the sensor isolation test (unplugging sensors on Supply 2). Replace any sensor that is found to be internally shorting the circuit.
Check wiring harness
If the sensors are good, use a multimeter to check the wiring harness for continuity to power. Repair or replace the engine wiring harness if a short to a 12V source is located.
Replace EDC module
If the wiring harness and sensors are verified to be in good working order, the EDC module must be replaced and reprogrammed/flashed to the machine.
