New Holland ENG 3287 – Engine ECU (EDC): Turbo Compound Monitoring - No Signal

The engine control system is failing to receive a valid signal from the sensor responsible for monitoring the turbo compound system. This usually points to an open circuit, a disconnected sensor, or a completely failed sensor.

   Visual Inspection: Locate the turbo compound monitoring sensor near the turbocharger/turbocompound unit. Inspect the sensor connector for backed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture.

   Harness Check: Trace the wiring harness from the sensor back to the Engine ECU. Look for chafing, melted wires, or pinch points.

   Circuit Testing: Using a multimeter, check the sensor's supply voltage and ground circuits with the key ON.

   Continuity Test: Test the signal wire for continuity between the sensor connector and the ECU pin. Check for an open circuit or a short to ground.

   Mechanical Inspection: Ensure there is no physical damage to the turbo compound unit itself that would prevent the sensor from generating a reading.

   Power Down

   Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Sensor

   Gain access to the turbocharger assembly and locate the turbo compound monitoring sensor.

   Disconnect and Remove

   Unplug the electrical connector. Remove the retaining bolt(s) and carefully pull the sensor out of its mounting bore.

   Harness Repair

   If the diagnostic checks revealed an open circuit or damaged wire, repair the harness using OEM-approved weather-sealed splices.

   Install New Sensor

   Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor (if applicable) with clean engine oil. Insert the sensor and tighten the retaining hardware to OEM torque specifications.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key ON, and use a diagnostic tool (such as the CNH EASy tool) to clear the inactive fault codes.

   Test Run

   Start the engine and verify that the ENG 3287 code does not return during operation.
