New Holland ENG 3288 – Engine Control Module (ECM / EDC7 / EDC17): Turbo Compound Monitoring - Signal High

The voltage or frequency signal returning from the Turbo Compound monitoring sensor to the Engine ECU is exceeding the maximum expected threshold, typically caused by a short-to-power, open circuit, or internal sensor failure.

   Visually inspect the Turbo Compound monitoring sensor housing, connector, and wiring harness for physical damage, melting, or corrosion.

   Check for open circuits by disconnecting the sensor and ECM harness, then measuring continuity of the signal, power, and ground wires.

   Check for a short-to-power by probing the signal wire with the key ON (engine off) to ensure it is not receiving unintended battery voltage.

   Verify the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage (usually 5V) and has a solid ground.

   Clear inactive codes using a diagnostic tool or IntelliView monitor and run the engine to see if the code returns immediately or intermittently.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the battery disconnect switch to prevent electrical spikes.

   Access the Sensor

   Remove any necessary engine shielding to access the exhaust/turbo compound side of the FPT Cursor engine.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or short, splice and repair the harness using OEM-approved weather-sealed connectors.

   Replace the Sensor

   If wiring is good, disconnect the electrical pigtail from the Turbo Compound monitoring sensor, unbolt/unscrew it from the mounting port, clean the mounting surface, install the new sensor and torque to OEM specifications, then reconnect the electrical harness.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reconnect battery power, connect the diagnostic tool, clear the ENG 3288 fault code, start the engine, and monitor the turbo compound speed/status in the live data parameters to verify the sensor is reading correctly.
