New Holland ENG 3302 – Engine ECU (Bosch EDC7 / EDC7UC31): Cylinder 3 Specific Errors - Signal Not Plausible
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit is receiving an erratic, intermittent, or incorrect electrical signal from the fuel injector solenoid on cylinder 3. The system is detecting an electrical anomaly in the injector circuit, which could be caused by an open load, a short circuit to the battery (low side), a short circuit to ground (high side), or an internal failure of the injector solenoid valve itself.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Check the wiring harness and electrical connector leading to the Cylinder 3 fuel injector for chafing, corrosion, or loose connections.
Circuit Testing: Test the Cylinder 3 injector cable for a short-circuit low side to the battery, a short-circuit high side to ground, or an open load.
Component Testing: Measure the resistance of the Cylinder 3 injector solenoid to verify it is within OEM specifications.
ECU Pin Inspection: Inspect the pins on the Bosch EDC7 Engine ECU connector (16-way, 36-way, or 89-way connectors) for bent pins, damage, or moisture intrusion.
Cylinder Balancing: Perform an adaptive cylinder balancing test via a diagnostic tool to check the mechanical response and source voltage of Cylinder 3.
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
Remove covers
Remove the engine hood assembly and any necessary covers to access the fuel injection system.
Disconnect electrical connector
Locate the Cylinder 3 fuel injector. Carefully insert a screwdriver into the clearance of the electrical connector and pry off the connector gradually to avoid breaking the retaining clips.
Repair wiring
If the diagnostic tests revealed a wiring issue, repair the damaged section of the harness or splice in a new EDC7 injector repair pigtail/loom.
Clean injector area
If the injector itself is faulty, clean the area around the injector to prevent debris from entering the cylinder.
Remove fuel line
Remove the high-pressure fuel line connected to the Cylinder 3 injector.
Remove hold-down clamp
Remove the injector hold-down clamp/bracket.
Extract fuel injector
Use an appropriate injector puller tool (if seized) to extract the Cylinder 3 fuel injector from the cylinder head.
Install new injector
Install the new fuel injector, ensuring that a new copper sealing washer/wire is used at the base.
Reinstall hold-down clamp
Reinstall the hold-down clamp and torque to OEM specifications.
Reconnect components
Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line and the electrical connector.
Finalize repair
Reconnect the negative battery terminal, bleed the fuel system if required by the specific engine manual, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the ENG 3302 fault code. Run the engine to verify the repair.
