New Holland ENG 3307 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Cylinder 5 Specific Errors - No Signal

The engine's control module is failing to detect an electrical signal from the fuel injector located on cylinder number 5. This condition is typically caused by an open circuit, a disconnected injector wiring harness, or an internal failure of the fuel injector's electrical solenoid.

   Inspect the wiring harness connecting the Engine ECU to the Cylinder 5 fuel injector for any signs of chafing, breaks, or open circuits.

   Check the electrical connector at the Cylinder 5 injector for corrosion, bent pins, or a loose connection.

   Test the resistance of the Cylinder 5 injector solenoid with a multimeter to determine if the internal coil has failed (open circuit).

   Verify the integrity of the valve cover pass-through harness (if applicable to the specific engine model) for oil intrusion or damaged wiring.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the machine's battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Remove components

   Remove the valve cover, rocker arms, and the injector wiring harness to access the fuel injectors.

   Remove fuel tube

   Remove the high-pressure fuel inlet tube connected to the Cylinder 5 injector.

   Remove injector

   Remove the injector hold-down hardware and extract the faulty Cylinder 5 injector from the cylinder head.

   Clean bore

   Clean the injector bore thoroughly.

   Prepare new injector

   Prepare the new injector by ensuring the copper sealing washer is in place and lubricating the rubber O-ring with a suitable grease (like Vaseline).

   Install new injector

   Slide the new injector into the bore, ensuring the fuel inlet tube hole in the injector aligns perfectly with the fuel inlet tube bore in the cylinder head. Listen for it to snap/seat properly.

   Install fuel tube

   Lubricate the O-ring on the fuel inlet tube, align its dimples, and slide it into the tube bore until it snaps into place.

   Torque injector bolts

   Torque the injector bolts to the initial specification (e.g., 9 Nm).

    Torque fuel tube nut

    Torque the fuel tube nut to the specified value (e.g., 50 Nm).

    Final torque injector bolts

    Apply the final torque to the injector bolts (e.g., turning them an additional 75 degrees).

    Reinstall components

    Reinstall the injector wiring harness, rocker arms, and valve cover.

    Reconnect battery

    Reconnect the battery.

    Program IMA code

    Use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to program the new injector's IMA (Injector Adjustment) code into the Engine ECU so the controller can properly adjust fueling for the new injector.
