   Inspect the wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the Cylinder 5 fuel injector. Look for chafing, bare wires, or a short circuit (specifically a short on the low side to the battery or ground).

   Test the continuity of the injector circuit from the ECU connector. Depending on the exact engine model, the Cylinder 5 injector is typically located on the EDC7 Injectors Connector (Connector A) at Pins 11 (Blue/Green) and 16 (Blue/Yellow), or Connector C at Pin 1.

   Disconnect the Cylinder 5 injector and measure its internal resistance using a multimeter. A healthy unit injector should typically read between 0.9 - 5.2 Ω at 20°C (68°F). If the resistance is out of specification (too high or too low), the injector has failed internally.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Remove the valve cover or necessary engine cowling to access the fuel injectors on the fuel rail.

Pull the faulty Cylinder 5 injector. Install the new injector with new O-rings and copper sealing washers. Reinstall the hold-down clamp and torque to OEM specifications. Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line and the electrical connector.

   Reinstall the valve cover, reconnect the battery, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the ENG 3308 fault code from the Engine ECU. Prime the fuel system and test run the engine to verify the misfire/code is resolved.
