New Holland ENG 3310 – EDC7: Cylinder 5 Specific Errors - Signal Not Plausible.

The engine controller is receiving an unreliable, incorrect, or implausible electrical signal from the fuel injector on Cylinder 5. This typically indicates an electrical fault in the injector's solenoid, a failure in the injector wiring harness (such as a short circuit or loose contact), or an issue with the injector's IMA programming.

   Inspect the engine wiring harness between the EDC7 ECU and the Cylinder 5 injector for chafing, melted wires, or loose contacts.

   Disconnect the Cylinder 5 injector connector and the ECU 89-way connector to check for oil intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins.

   Measure the resistance of the Cylinder 5 injector solenoid and check the injector cables for a short circuit to the battery (high side or low side) or a short circuit to ground.

   Use the E.S.T. diagnostic tool to verify that the IMA (Injector Quantity Adjustment) programming code stored in the ECU matches the code printed on the Cylinder 5 injector.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes to the EDC7 controller.

   Access the Injector

   Remove the engine covers or valve cover (depending on the engine model) to access the Cylinder 5 fuel injector and its wiring pigtail.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic tests revealed a wiring fault, repair the damaged section of the loom. If the ECU connector is damaged, an EDC7 89-way repair harness can be spliced in.

   Replace the Injector

   If the wiring tests good but the injector solenoid fails resistance testing, remove the high-pressure fuel line and the injector hold-down clamp. Extract the faulty Cylinder 5 injector.

   Install New Injector

   Install the replacement injector with a new copper sealing washer and O-rings. Torque the hold-down clamp and the high-pressure fuel line to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect the battery. Connect the E.S.T. diagnostic laptop to the machine's diagnostic port. Navigate to the engine controller menu and input the new injector's IMA code for Cylinder 5.

   Clear the ENG 3310 fault code from the ECU memory. Start the engine, check for fuel leaks, and verify that the code does not return.
