New Holland ENG 3313 – Engine Control Unit (Engine ECU / EDC7UC31): Cylinder 6 BIP Search Failure - Too Many Unsuccessful Searches - Rail Pressure Drop Rate too High
Issue description
Severe issue with the fuel injection event on Cylinder 6. The ECU cannot detect the valve opening (BIP Search Failure) and detects the high-pressure common rail is losing fuel pressure much faster than expected when Cylinder 6 is commanded to fire. This almost always points to a mechanically failed, stuck-open, or internally leaking Cylinder 6 fuel injector.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the Cylinder 6 injector for chafed wires, oil intrusion, or loose terminals.
Perform an injector leak-off (return flow) test by disconnecting the return line and measuring return fuel volume while cranking or idling. Massive return confirms internal bypassing.
Run a cylinder contribution test using the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (E.A.Sy) to verify Cylinder 6 is dead or severely under-contributing.
Visually inspect the high-pressure fuel line running from the common rail to Cylinder 6 for any external cracks or leaks.
Repair steps
Prep the Area
Disconnect the battery. Thoroughly clean the area around the valve cover and the Cylinder 6 injector to prevent dirt from entering the engine or fuel system.
Access the Injector
Remove the valve cover/rocker cover (depending on whether the engine is a NEF 6.7L or Cursor 9/13, access steps will vary).
Disconnect Lines
Disconnect the electrical harness from the Cylinder 6 injector. Remove the high-pressure fuel line connecting the fuel rail to the injector. (Note: OEM guidelines generally mandate replacing high-pressure lines once they have been loosened).
Remove the Injector
Remove the injector hold-down clamp/bolt. Carefully extract the injector from the cylinder head. Do not pry on the solenoid.
Clean the Bore
Inspect the injector bore. Ensure the old copper sealing washer was removed with the injector and is not stuck at the bottom of the cup. Clean the bore thoroughly.
Install New Parts
Install the new injector using a new copper sealing washer and new O-rings.
Reassembly
Install the hold-down clamp and torque the bolt to exact OEM specifications. Install the new high-pressure fuel line and torque the fittings. Reconnect the electrical harness and reinstall the valve cover.
ECU Programming (IMA Coding)
You must use the New Holland diagnostic tool to enter the new injector's IMA code (Injector Quantity Adjustment code, printed on the top of the new injector) into the Engine ECU. This calibrates the ECU to the specific flow characteristics of the new injector.
Finalize
Prime the fuel system, clear the ENG 3313 fault code, and test run the machine to verify the rail pressure is stable and the code does not return.
