ENG 3314

New Holland ENG 3314 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC: Cylinder 6 Specific Errors - Signal Not Plausible

Issue description

This fault code indicates that the engine control module is receiving an irregular, out-of-range, or illogical electrical signal from the fuel injector circuit on cylinder number 6. It typically points to an electrical communication breakdown, such as a short, open circuit, or high resistance in the injector wiring.

Applies to these machines

  • T6
  • T7
  • T8
  • T6000
  • T7000
  • CR9090
  • CX8080
  • CX8090
  • W170B
  • W190B

Check the cause

  1. Connect the CNH EASY diagnostic tool to verify if ENG 3314 is active or stored in the history.

  2. Inspect the fuel injector wiring harness routing (often located between the radiator and cylinder head or under the valve cover) for chafing, heat damage, or vibration wear.

  3. Disconnect the cylinder 6 injector connector and the main harness connector. Check the weather-sealed connections for moisture, dirt, or corrosion.

  4. Ohm test the cylinder 6 fuel injector to rule out an internal electrical short or open coil inside the injector itself.

Repair steps

  1. Prep the Machine

Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery before working on the electrical system to prevent accidental shorts.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around the fuel injection components. Modern common-rail systems are highly sensitive, and any dirt contamination can damage the system.

  3. Remove the Faulty Harness

Disconnect the factory wiring harness from the cylinder 6 injector and trace it back to the main engine harness connection.

  4. Install the New Harness

Install the direct plug-and-play replacement harness. Ensure the weather-sealed connectors click firmly into place. Route the wiring safely away from direct heat sources (like the exhaust) and the cooling fan.

  5. Replace Injector (If Necessary)

If the harness was intact but the injector failed the resistance test, replace the cylinder 6 fuel injector.

  6. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, use the diagnostic tool to clear the ENG 3314 fault code, and run the engine to verify that it runs smoothly without throwing the code again.
