New Holland ENG 3335 – ENGINE Control Module: CAN Bus Communication: CAN message not received from Vehicle controller (TSC1)

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has timed out while waiting to receive the TSC1 (Torque Speed Control 1) message over the CAN bus network from the primary Vehicle Controller.

   Determine if the fault is currently active or inactive (inactive suggests an intermittent wiring issue or loose connection)

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the Vehicle Control Module for chafing, pinched wires, or corrosion

   Verify that all connectors to the ECU and vehicle control modules are properly seated and connector locks are not broken

   Connect the New Holland EST to check the overall health of the CAN network and look for other missing CAN messages (like EEC1 or HRVD)

   Disconnect Batteries

   Always disconnect the machine's battery power before repairing CAN bus wiring to prevent short circuits.

   Repair Wiring

   If damaged wiring is found during the diagnostic inspection, splice and repair the CAN High and CAN Low wires using OEM-approved twisted-pair repair methods to maintain network shielding.

   Replace Connectors

   If the connector locks at the ECU or Vehicle Controller are broken, depin the connector and replace the plastic connector housing to ensure it does not vibrate loose during operation.

   Reconnect and Clear

   Reconnect all modules, restore battery power, and connect the EST.

   Retest

   Clear the inactive fault codes. Start the machine and operate the throttle/hydraulics to verify that the TSC1 CAN communication is restored and the code does not return.
