New Holland ENG 3345 – Engine ECU (EDC): Total Throttle Failure (Only applies to Dual Throttle Vehicles)

Complete loss of valid throttle position signals in machines equipped with a dual throttle system (typically a combination of a hand throttle/decelerator and a foot pedal throttle). The system cannot determine the operator's requested engine speed from either input.

   Check for accompanying sub-codes (e.g., 131/132 or 18001–18004) to isolate the issue to a specific sensor.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running from both the hand throttle and the foot pedal to the Engine ECU for chafed wires, open circuits, short circuits, moisture, bent pins, or corrosion.

   Test the resistance and voltage sweep of both the hand throttle potentiometer and the foot throttle sensor using a multimeter to ensure smooth voltage changes without dropouts.

   Check ECU Terminal 50 to ensure proper voltage and secure ground connections, as a bad ground can cause dual sensor dropouts.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

   Access the Faulty Sensor

   Based on your multimeter tests, access either the hand throttle assembly on the right-hand armrest/console or the foot pedal assembly on the cab floor.

   Remove the Sensor

   For the hand throttle: Remove the console trim to expose the linkage. Disconnect the electrical pigtail and unbolt the electronic lift control/throttle potentiometer from the linkage assembly. For the foot throttle: Unbolt the electronic foot pedal assembly from the floorboard and disconnect the wiring harness.

   Install the Replacement Part

   Mount the new potentiometer or pedal assembly. Ensure the mechanical linkage (if applicable) is properly aligned with the sensor's tracking component so it accurately monitors structural movement.

   Reconnect and Reassemble

   Reconnect the electrical harnesses and reinstall any cab trim or floor mats. Reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes and Calibrate

   Use a Can-Bus diagnostic tool or DTC eraser to clear the ENG 3345 code from the Engine ECU. Turn the key to the ON position and perform any required throttle calibration procedures specified in your specific model's operator manual to sync the new sensor limits with the ECU.
