New Holland ENG 3366 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Foot Pedal 2 - Signal Not Plausible Compared to Foot Pedal 1

Electronic accelerator pedals use two independent position sensors (potentiometers) for redundancy and safety. As the pedal is pressed, both sensors send voltage signals to the computer. The system continuously compares the voltage of Sensor 1 against Sensor 2. If the relationship between the two signals falls outside the expected mathematical parameters (for example, if one sensor reads 10% throttle while the other reads 50%), the system flags the signals as "not plausible." When this code is triggered, the machine will typically default to idle or enter a limp-mode (torque limitation) to prevent unintended acceleration.

   Physical Inspection: Check the foot pedal area for dirt, debris, or floor mats that might be physically obstructing the pedal's travel or causing it to bind.

   Wiring & Connector Check: Inspect the electrical connector at the foot pedal assembly. Look for corrosion, moisture, pushed-out pins, or chafed wires in the harness leading to the Engine ECU.

   Voltage Supply Test: Using a multimeter, verify that the pedal sensor is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage and has a solid ground from the ECU.

   Live Data Sweep: Connect a diagnostic tool (such as the CNH Electronic Service Tool - EST). Monitor the live data voltages for "Foot Pedal 1" and "Foot Pedal 2." Slowly depress the pedal from 0% to 100%. The voltages should sweep smoothly without any dropouts, spikes, or dead spots. If one sensor drops out or the ratio between them is incorrect, the pedal potentiometer has failed internally.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Pedal

   Locate the electronic foot pedal assembly on the cab floor.

   Disconnect Harness

   Depress the locking tab and disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the pedal sensor.

   Remove the mounting bolts or nuts securing the pedal assembly to the floorboard.

   Position the new foot pedal assembly and securely tighten the mounting hardware.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical harness back into the new sensor, ensuring it clicks and locks into place. Reconnect the battery.

   Calibration

   Turn the key to the ON position. Depending on the specific New Holland model, you may need to perform a throttle pedal calibration routine (often accessed via the instrument cluster "H" diagnostic menu or using the CNH EST tool) so the ECU can learn the new 0% and 100% pedal voltage limits.

   Clear the ENG 3366 fault code using your diagnostic tool. Start the engine and test the throttle response to verify the repair.
