ENG 3374

New Holland ENG 3374 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC: EDC EEPROM: Injection Quantity Adjustment failure - Invalid EEPROM Adjustment Value Checksum

Issue description

The Engine Control Unit has detected that the Injector Quantity Adjustment (IMA) calibration codes stored in its internal EEPROM memory are corrupted, missing, or have an invalid checksum. If the ECU loses this data, or if new injectors were installed without programming their specific codes into the ECU, this fault is triggered.

Applies to these machines

  • L220
  • L221
  • L223
  • L228
  • L321
  • L328
  • C227
  • C232
  • C327
  • C332
  • C337
  • T4020
  • T4030
  • T5.100
  • T5.110

Check the cause

  1. Verify service history to determine if the engine ECU was recently flashed, repaired, or replaced, or if fuel injectors were replaced without ECU coding

  2. Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) and read the current IMA codes stored in the EDC's memory

  3. Inspect the top of the physical fuel injectors installed in the engine, write down the 7-digit IMA calibration code printed on each injector body, and compare them to the codes stored in the software

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

  2. Navigate to programming menu

Navigate to the Engine Control Module (EDC) programming/calibration menu.

  3. Select IMA coding

Select the Injector Programming / IMA coding function.

  4. Input IMA codes

Input the correct 7-digit IMA codes (read directly from the physical injectors) into the software for each corresponding engine cylinder.

  5. Save configuration

Save the configuration to the ECU.

  6. Perform key cycle

Perform a complete key cycle (turn the ignition off, wait for the ECU to fully power down, then turn the key back on).

  7. Clear fault codes

    Clear the fault codes.

  8. Repair or replace ECU

If the ECU refuses to accept the codes, or if code ENG 3374 returns immediately after the key cycle, the EDC module must be sent out for EEPROM repair/cloning or replaced entirely.
