ENG 3376

New Holland ENG 3376 – Engine Controller: Engine Controller Software Does Not Support Power Management (Engine Power Management Option Enabled, but Engine Software Not Compatible)

Issue description

A software configuration mismatch where the Engine Power Management (EPM) feature has been enabled in the vehicle's main configuration, but the software version currently flashed to the engine controller does not have the programming to support it.

Applies to these machines

  • New Holland T8.xxx Series
  • New Holland T6000 Series (T6010, T6020, T6030, T6040, T6050, T6060, T6070)

Check the cause

  1. Verify machine specifications using the original build sheet or dealer specifications to determine if the tractor was factory-equipped with the Engine Power Management (EPM) feature.

  2. Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the diagnostic port and check the vehicle configuration settings to verify if the EPM option is currently toggled to 'Enabled'.

  3. Use the EST to read the current software version on the Engine Controller (EDC) and compare it against the latest available CNH software payloads for that specific engine/chassis combination.

Repair steps

  1. Connect the EST

Plug the CNH EST diagnostic interface into the machine's CAN diagnostic port and turn the key to the ON position (engine off).

  2. Determine the Correct Path

If the machine is NOT supposed to have EPM: Navigate to the vehicle configuration menu and disable the 'Engine Power Management' option. Save the configuration to the vehicle. If the machine IS supposed to have EPM: The Engine Controller has outdated or incorrect software. Navigate to the programming/flashing menu in the EST. Download and flash the correct, updated software payload to the Engine Controller that includes EPM support.

  3. Cycle Power

Turn the key off and wait for the controllers to fully power down (usually 30-60 seconds) to allow the new configuration/software to initialize.

  4. Clear Codes

Turn the key back on, reconnect the EST, and clear all inactive fault codes. Verify that ENG 3376 does not return.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Engine Control Module / EDC

Only required if the Engine Controller itself has failed and refuses to accept a software flash.
