New Holland ENG 3377 – Engine Controller: Constant Engine RPM Switch Detected but Option Not Enabled
Issue description
Configuration mismatch within the machine's electronic system. The Engine Control Module (ECM) is receiving a physical electrical signal indicating that a Constant Engine RPM Switch is present and being actuated, but the software configuration inside the engine controller does not have this specific feature enabled.
Applies to these machines
5 machines- T8.xxx Series
- CR9090
- CX8080 Elevation
- CX8090 Elevation
- Magnum 235 - 340 (Series 4)
Check the cause
Physically inspect the cab and operator controls to determine if the machine is actually equipped with a Constant Engine RPM Switch.
If the switch is physically present, verify the Engine Controller's software settings to confirm whether the power management/constant RPM option is turned off.
If the machine is not equipped with this switch, check the engine wiring harness for a short circuit that may be sending a false signal to the ECM.
Repair steps
Connect diagnostic tool
Connect the dealer diagnostic service tool to the machine's CAN-bus port.
Access configuration menu
Access the Engine Controller (ECM/EDC) configuration menu.
Enable software feature
If the switch is installed: Navigate to the engine options and enable the 'Constant Engine RPM' feature in the software.
Repair wiring harness
If the switch is NOT installed: Trace the wiring harness circuit designated for the Constant Engine RPM switch. Locate and repair any shorts to power or ground that are tricking the ECM into detecting a switch.
Clear fault codes
Clear the fault codes from the Engine Controller and cycle the key to verify ENG 3377 does not return.
