New Holland ENG 3426 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Control Module (ECM): Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF): Level 1 of Particulate Filter Overloaded
Issue description
Indicates that the engine's DPF has accumulated a high level of soot or ash, resulting in low filter efficiency and restricted exhaust flow. Because it is a "Level 1" warning, it is an early-stage overload that typically precedes more severe engine derating or torque-limiting conditions if left unaddressed.

Check the cause
Check the DPF Differential Pressure Sensor and its physical hose lines to verify they are not blocked, leaking, or damaged
Monitor the DPF flow resistance signal to confirm the restriction
Monitor the DPF inlet and outlet temperatures to ensure the system is capable of reaching the necessary heat levels for regeneration
Check for upstream active EGR or fuel injection faults causing excessive soot production, which would prematurely overload the filter
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Equipment
Connect the CNH EASY Tool (or an equivalent heavy-duty scanner) to the machine's diagnostic port.
Force a Manual Regeneration
Because this is a "Level 1" overload, command a manual/parked DPF regeneration to burn off the accumulated soot. Ensure the machine is parked in a safe, well-ventilated area away from combustible materials.
Clean or Replace the DPF
If the forced regeneration fails, or if the filter is permanently overloaded with incombustible ash, the DPF must be removed. It must either be sent to an authorized facility for professional ash cleaning or replaced with a new/remanufactured OEM unit.
Reset ECU Data
If the DPF is cleaned or replaced, use the diagnostic tool to perform the "DPF ash cleaning service - Reset ECU data" procedure so the engine module knows the filter is empty.
Clear Codes
Clear the existing fault codes from the engine ECU and test run the machine under load to ensure the exhaust pressures return to normal and the code does not return.
