This code indicates that the Engine Control Unit has detected a fault with the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system, triggering an emissions-related 'inducement' protocol. The inducement starts with a driver warning on the dash. If the underlying fault is not fixed, the system will enforce a torque reduction, eventually leading to a 'creep mode' with a strongly reduced maximum vehicle speed.
