New Holland ENG 3675 – ENGINE Control Module (Engine ECU / EDC7): EGR DFC for long time valve drift at closed position

This fault code indicates that the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve actuator is experiencing a long-term drift in its position sensor reading when the valve is commanded to the closed position. The desired EGR valve position cannot be reached, typically because the valve is mechanically sticking (due to carbon buildup) or the position sensor is mismatched/failing.

   Verify that the wiring harness and connectors between the Engine ECU and the EGR valve are free of damage, chafing, or loose pins

   Ensure all connections at the ECU and the EGR valve are secure, tight, and free of corrosion

   Check for accompanying voltage codes (such as ENG 3676 for SRC high or ENG 3677 for SRC low) which would indicate a hard electrical short rather than a mechanical binding issue

   Preparation

   Turn off the machine, disconnect the battery, and ensure the engine and exhaust components are cool to the touch.

   Removal

   Locate the EGR valve on the engine and carefully remove it from the assembly.

   Inspection

   Inspect the inside of the EGR valve for heavy carbon build-up or mechanical binding.

   Cleaning

   If carbon build-up is present, thoroughly clean the EGR valve using an appropriate solvent until the valve mechanism moves freely without binding.

   Reinstallation

   Reinstall the cleaned EGR valve. If the valve was permanently bound or the internal sensor failed, install a new replacement EGR valve.

   Calibration

   Reconnect the battery. If a new EGR valve was installed, you must use the New Holland diagnostic service tool to restore self-learning parameters (EGR valve calibration).

   Testing

   Clear the fault codes using the diagnostic tool, restart the machine, and operate it under load to verify the code does not return.
