New Holland ENG 3676 – ENGINE: EGR DFC for valve position sensor voltage SRC high

The engine control system has detected a voltage signal from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve position sensor that exceeds the maximum expected range, which is typically caused by a short circuit to the battery or an open circuit on the sensor ground.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the EGR valve position sensor and the Engine ECU for a short to battery condition.

   Check the sensor ground circuit for an open connection, which can cause the voltage signal to default high.

   Inspect the electrical connectors at the EGR valve and the ECU for corrosion, moisture, or damaged/bent pins.

   Verify that the EGR valve is not mechanically stuck or binding, as related codes often accompany EGR electrical faults.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the machine's battery before servicing engine electrical components.

   Repair wiring or connectors

   Repair or replace any damaged wiring harness sections or connectors that are causing the short to battery.

   Diagnose EGR valve

   If the wiring tests good, the fault is likely an internal short within the EGR valve's electronic control unit/position sensor.

   Remove faulty EGR valve

   Remove the faulty EGR valve assembly. Number and mark components if disassembling surrounding exhaust treatment parts.

   Install new EGR valve

   Install the new EGR valve / Electronic Control Unit assembly.

   Clear fault codes

   Reconnect the battery and use a diagnostic tool or CAN-bus DTC eraser to clear the fault codes from the Engine ECU memory.
