New Holland ENG 3692 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EDC (Electronic Diesel Control): Glow Plugs: Over Temperature Error on ECU Power Stage for Glow plug Low Voltage System

The engine controller has detected an abnormally high temperature within the internal power stage (the circuit or driver) that supplies voltage to the glow plug system.

   Check for Active Status: Clear the DTCs and cycle the machine to see if the code returns, as this can sometimes be a transient error.

   Wiring and Circuit Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness between the ECU, the glow plug control unit/relay, and the glow plugs for melted wires, corroded connectors, or a short circuit to ground.

   Test the Glow Plugs: Test the resistance of each glow plug to ensure they are within specification, as a shorted plug can cause the control unit to overheat.

   Monitor the System

   If the failure is not present after a short time, no reaction/repair is needed.

   Replace the Control Unit

   If the fault code persists and remains active after clearing, the internal power stage is permanently damaged. Replace the Glow Plug Control Unit.

   Clear Codes

   After replacing the faulty module, use a diagnostic service tool to clear the ENG 3692 code and verify that the glow plug system operates normally during a cold start.
