New Holland ENG 3704 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Injector Adjustment Programming: Check of missing injector adjustment value programming

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has lost or is missing the Injector Quantity Adjustment (IQA) or Injector Adjustment (IMA) trim codes for one or more fuel injectors.

   Verify Recent Service History: Determine if the Engine ECU was recently replaced, updated, or flashed, which can wipe the stored injector codes.

   Check for Recent Injector Replacement: Determine if one or more fuel injectors were recently replaced but the technician forgot to program the new trim codes into the ECU.

   Read Current ECU Data: Connect a diagnostic tool (such as the CNH Electronic Service Tool or a compatible aftermarket scanner like Jaltest) and view the current injector trim codes stored in the ECU.

   Visual Inspection: Physically inspect the top or side of the fuel injectors installed in the engine block and write down the alphanumeric IMA/IQA trim codes printed on them. Compare these physical codes to the ones (if any) stored in the ECU.

   Record Injector Codes

   Write down the exact alphanumeric IMA/IQA trim code printed on the solenoid head of each installed fuel injector, noting which cylinder each injector belongs to (following the engine's firing order).

   Connect Diagnostic Tool

   Plug the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) or an equivalent heavy-duty diagnostic scanner into the machine's diagnostic port.

   Access Engine ECU

   Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine off) and establish communication with the Engine ECU.

   Navigate to Programming

   Go to the "Calibrations", "Programming", or "Injector Trim" menu within the diagnostic software.

   Input Trim Codes

   Select the "Injector Adjustment Programming" function. Manually enter the alphanumeric codes you recorded from the injectors into the corresponding cylinder fields in the software.

   Save and Flash

   Save the new values to the ECU.

   Clear Codes

   Cycle the ignition key off for 30 seconds, turn it back on, and clear the ENG 3704 fault code from the system.

   Test Run

   Start the engine and verify that the fault code does not return and the engine runs smoothly without derate.
