New Holland ENG 3706 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Injector Adjustment Programming: Check of missing injector adjustment value programming
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has lost, or is missing, the Injector Quantity Adjustment (IQA) or Injector Measurement Adjustment (IMA) calibration code specifically for Injector 3 (in firing order). These codes are required by the ECU to deliver the precise amount of fuel for that specific cylinder.
Applies to these machines
17 machines- L Series (L316, L318, L320)
- C Series
- W50C
- W60C
- W70C
- W80C

- CX8090
Check the cause
Check repair history to determine if the Engine ECU was recently flashed, reprogrammed, or replaced, which could have wiped the injector memory.
Check component history to determine if fuel injector #3 was recently replaced by a technician who forgot to program the new injector's calibration code into the ECU.
Locate cylinder #3 and physically read the alphanumeric IQA/IMA adjustment code printed on the top of the fuel injector.
Repair steps
Connect diagnostic tool
Connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) / Easy-Engine software to the machine's diagnostic port.
Navigate to programming menu
Navigate to the engine controller's injector programming menu.
Compare injector codes
Check the injector code currently stored in the ECU for cylinder 3 and compare it to the physical code printed on the injector itself.
Reprogram injector code
Using the EST, write/reprogram the correct injector code into the Engine ECU for cylinder 3.
Verify code clears
Save the configuration and cycle the machine's key to verify the code clears.
Re-flash or replace ECU
If the ECU will not accept the code or loses it again, attempt to re-flash the ECU firmware. If the issue persists, the ECU has an internal defect and must be replaced.
