New Holland ENG 3727 – ENGINE (EDC): Engine Oil: Low Oil Viscosity / Poor Oil Quality Detected - Amber Lamp Level

The engine control system has calculated or detected that the engine oil has degraded and lost its required viscosity, typically caused by fuel dilution or excessive soot accumulation.

   Check oil condition by pulling the dipstick to inspect the oil level and condition. An overfull crankcase often indicates severe fuel dilution, which directly causes low viscosity.

   Scan the EDC for other active fault codes. If there are codes related to fuel injectors, DPF regeneration failures, or soot accumulation (e.g., codes 3729 for fuel in oil or 3730 for soot in oil), diagnose and repair those underlying issues first so the new oil does not quickly become diluted again.

   Drain the Engine Oil

   Drain the degraded oil from the engine oil pan.

   Replace the Filter

   Remove and replace the engine oil filter.

   Refill the Oil

   Refill the engine crankcase to the proper level with OEM-specified engine oil.

   Reset the Oil Quality Counter

   Use the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) to reset the oil life/quality counter in the EDC. If you skip this step, the ECU will still calculate the oil as degraded, and the 3727 fault code will remain active.
