New Holland ENG 3740 – Engine Control Module (ECM) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Injector Circuit Error

The engine controller has detected an internal failure or a severe irregularity in the injector power stages (the circuits that supply voltage to fire the fuel injectors). The system sets a diagnostic fault check (DFC) to enforce a torque limitation (derate the engine) to protect the engine before the main safety monitoring software (MoCSOP) triggers its own error reaction.

   Inspect the engine wiring harness connecting the EDC to the fuel injectors for chafed wires, loose pins, or corrosion

   Test the resistance of the fuel injectors to ensure they are within OEM specifications and not shorting out the EDC power stage

   Clear the fault codes using the electronic service tool and cycle the key to see if the code is an active or intermittent fault

   Verify the Circuit

   If the wiring harness and injectors test good, the fault lies internally within the EDC.

   Reprogram the EDC

   Attempt to flash/reprogram the Engine Controller with the latest software calibration using the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Replace the EDC

   If the fault persists after reprogramming, the Engine Controller (EDC) has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.

   Restore Parameters

   If the EDC is replaced, you must follow the appropriate Service Tool procedure to restore the engine's Self-Learning Parameters. Failure to do so will result in poor running conditions or additional fault codes.
