New Holland ENG 3743 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): EDC - Power stages, Injector: Diagnostic fault check to report the error in under voltage monitoring.
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects an internal under-voltage condition specifically affecting the injector power stages during engine startup. It essentially means the controller is not receiving or maintaining the minimum voltage required to properly fire the fuel injectors.
Applies to these machines
8 machines- F5C engines
- F5H engines
- L220 Skid Steer Loader
- Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
- T4 Tractor
- T5 Tractor
- T6 Tractor
- T7 Tractor
Check the cause
Inspect the battery for proper resting voltage and perform a load test
Clean and tighten all battery terminals and ground connections
Test the alternator and charging circuit to ensure the system is not experiencing high voltage fluctuations or failing to supply adequate voltage to the EDC
Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to verify if the fault code is currently active or stored as a historic event
Repair steps
Reflash the ECU
Attempt to flash the Engine Control Unit (ECU) with the proper, most up-to-date data set/software using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST).
Evaluate
Cycle the key and attempt a startup. If the fault code clears, the issue was a software corruption anomaly.
Replace the ECU
If the fault code persists after a successful reflash, the internal injector power stage of the EDC has failed, and the ECU must be replaced.
Restore Parameters
If the EDC is replaced, you must use the CNH Electronic Service Tool to perform the 'Restore Self Learning Parameters' procedure so the new module can sync with the engine and injectors.
