New Holland ENG 3758 – EDC (Electronic Diesel Control): EDC - Level 2 Monitoring: Diagnosis fault check to report the error to demand for an ICO due to an error in the PoI3 efficiency factor

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) continuously performs a diagnostic fault check for "Post Injection 3" (PoI3). If the ECU determines that there is a plausibility error regarding the efficiency factor of this third post-injection event, it triggers this fault. The system demands an "ICO" (Injection Cut-Off) as a Level 2 monitoring protective measure due to the implausible injection data.

   Connect the official New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's diagnostic port.

   Verify the active status of DTC 3758 in the Engine Control Unit (A-9000).

   Check for any accompanying injection quantity correction or rail pressure plausibility faults (such as 3753 or 3754), which might indicate a physical fuel system issue rather than a pure software/module calculation error.

   Reload the Engine Dataset

   Use the service tool to re-flash or reload the engine dataset (software calibration) to the EDC.

   Re-evaluate

   Clear the codes and cycle the machine to see if the PoI3 efficiency factor fault persists.

   Replace the Controller

   If the fault persists after the dataset has been reloaded, the Engine Controller (EDC) has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.

   Restore Parameters

   If the EDC is replaced, you must follow the appropriate service tool procedure to restore the engine's self-learning parameters and zero fuel calibration.
