The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected an internal failure. The ECU's internal 'watchdog' initiates a query/response communication with the main CPU. If the CPU's response does not match the expected value or timing, an error counter is incremented. Once the threshold is reached, the ECU reports 'WDA active' (Watchdog Active) and logs this fault.

   Verify the ECU software and attempt to re-flash the Engine Control Unit with the most up-to-date data set using the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST).

   Check the power supply to the ECU to ensure it is receiving clean, stable voltage, as voltage spikes can sometimes cause internal processor communication glitches.

   Replace the Engine Controller (EDC/ECU)

   Disconnect the battery, remove the wiring harnesses from the EDC, and unbolt the faulty module.

   Install the New Module

   Mount the replacement EDC and securely reconnect the harnesses.

   Restore Parameters

   You must use the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) to program the new module. Follow the appropriate service tool procedure to restore the engine's 'Self Learning Parameters' and flash the correct machine-specific software onto the new ECU.
