New Holland ENG 3797 – ENGINE Controller: Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Pressure Sensor: SRC High for Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Sensor
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) is receiving a voltage signal from the DPF Differential Pressure Sensor that exceeds the maximum allowable threshold. This condition typically indicates an electrical fault, such as a short circuit to a power source on the signal wire, an open circuit on the sensor's ground wire, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Check the cause
Verify the ENG 3797 code is active using the Electronic Service Tool (EST).
Visually inspect the DPF Differential Pressure Sensor, wiring harness, and connector for chafing, melting, corrosion, or loose pins.
Test the sensor's signal wire for a short to battery voltage/power.
Test the sensor's ground circuit for an open connection.
Inspect the two hoses running from the DPF to the sensor to ensure they are not melted, cracked, or clogged with soot.
Verify proper 5V reference, good ground, and continuity on the signal wire to the ECU to determine if the sensor has failed internally.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the machine, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Locate the Sensor
Find the DPF Differential Pressure Sensor, which is typically mounted near the DPF assembly and connected to it via two small pressure hoses.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.
Remove Hoses
Carefully release the hose clamps and pull the upstream and downstream pressure hoses off the sensor. Note which hose goes to which port, as reversing them will cause immediate fault codes.
Remove Sensor
Unbolt the sensor bracket and remove the faulty sensor.
Install New Part
Mount the new DPF Differential Pressure Sensor and secure the bolts.
Reconnect
Reattach the pressure hoses to their correct ports and secure the clamps. Plug in the electrical connector.
ECU Reset
Reconnect the battery. Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST). Navigate to the emissions configuration menu, select the Differential Pressure Sensor (Delta P), and click the 'RESET' button to initialize the new component with the ECU.
Clear and Test
Clear the inactive fault codes, start the engine, and verify that code 3797 does not return.
