New Holland ENG 3817 – Engine Control Unit (ECU / EDC): Governor Valve: Permanent governor deviation for valve

The negative limit of the throttle valve governor deviation has been exceeded. This means the engine control system is commanding a specific throttle valve position, but the desired position cannot be reached.

   Verify that the fault code is still present and in an active state

   Verify that the wiring harness and connectors going to the Throttle Valve Actuator (TVA) are free of damage, corrosion, or loose pins

   Inspect the throttle valve assembly for heavy carbon buildup or physical binding inside the housing that would prevent the butterfly valve from moving freely

   Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery.

   Disconnect the electrical connector to the Throttle Valve Actuator (TVA) and the nearby air pressure/temperature (TMAP) sensor.

   Disconnect the air inlet hose from the intake tube.

   Remove the bolts and nuts securing the Throttle Valve Actuator and intake tube to the intake manifold.

   Lift the TVA from the cylinder head/manifold and discard the old gasket.

   Cap the inlet ports to prevent dirt from entering the engine.

   Install the new Throttle Valve Actuator along with a new gasket.

   Torque the mounting bolts and nuts to 20 - 30 N·m (15 - 22 lb ft).

   Reconnect the air inlet hose and all electrical connections.

   Clear the fault codes from the ECU and test run the machine to ensure the governor deviation code does not return.
