New Holland ENG 3826 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Throttle Valve Actuator (TVA) Circuit - Temperature dependent over current error for H-bridge

The control module has detected an excessive electrical current draw (a short circuit or overload) in the TVA drive circuit that correlates with temperature changes.

   Connect an Electronic Service Tool to verify that the fault code is currently active.

   Inspect the throttle valve actuator connector (designated as X-016, or pins A34/A49 on the 60-pin engine connector). Ensure all connections are secure, tight, and free of corrosion, abrasion, or damage.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the ECU and the TVA for any visible damage or short circuits.

   Remove the intake tubing and inspect the physical Throttle Valve Actuator for a sticking, carbon-fouled, or jammed valve, which can cause the actuator motor to draw excessive current.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the machine's battery power before servicing engine electrical components.

   Repair or replace wiring harness

   If the wiring harness or connectors were found to be damaged during diagnostics, repair or replace the affected harness sections.

   Replace Throttle Valve Actuator

   If the wiring is intact but the TVA is jammed or electrically faulty, replace the Throttle Valve Actuator: Disconnect the electrical connector and the air pressure/temperature sensor. Remove the intake tube and unbolt the faulty TVA. Install the new Throttle Valve Actuator and intake tube. Torque the mounting bolts and nuts to 20 - 30 N·m (15 - 22 lb ft). Reconnect the electrical connections.

   Replace Engine ECU

   If both the wiring harness and the TVA test perfectly fine, the ECU's internal H-bridge power stage has likely failed. The Engine ECU will need to be replaced and reprogrammed by a dealer.

   Verify repair

   Reconnect battery power, clear the fault codes using your service tool, and run the engine to verify the repair.
