New Holland ENG 3827 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Throttle Valve Actuator (TVA) Circuit - Under Voltage Error For H-Bridge
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected high fluctuations or a drop in the system voltage specifically affecting the H-bridge driver circuit that powers the Throttle Valve Actuator.
Applies to these machines
10 machines- Skid Steer Loaders (SSL)
- Compact Track Loaders (CTL)
- L Series
- C Series
- L220
- Workmaster series
- AWS models
- CR9090
- CX8080 Elevation
- CX8090 Elevation
Check the cause
Connect the Electronic Service Tool to the diagnostic connector to verify that the fault code is currently active
Test the battery condition, battery terminals, and alternator output to identify high voltage fluctuations or drops
Inspect the main 60-pin engine connector and the specific Throttle Valve Actuator connector for secure fitment, corrosion, abrasion, or damage
Inspect the Throttle Valve Actuator mechanically to ensure the valve is not sticking or jammed, which could cause electrical overload
Repair steps
Resolve Power Supply Issues
If the battery is weak or the alternator is failing, replace them and clean all ground connections to stabilize system voltage.
Repair Wiring
If the harness or connectors are damaged, repair or replace the affected sections of the wire harness.
Replace the Throttle Valve Actuator
Disconnect the electrical connections to the TVA and the air pressure/temperature sensor. Remove the intake tube. Remove the mounting bolts and nuts securing the TVA. Install the new Throttle Valve Actuator and reattach the intake tube. Torque the mounting bolts and nuts to 20 - 30 N·m (15 - 22 lb ft). Reconnect all electrical connections.
Replace the ECU
If the battery, alternator, wiring, and TVA are all in good working order, the ECU itself may have an internal failure in the H-bridge circuit and will need to be replaced and reprogrammed.
