New Holland ENG 3830 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Electronic Diesel Control (EDC): Throttle Valve Actuator: DFC for valve position sensor physical SRC high

The Engine Control Unit is detecting a voltage signal from the intake throttle valve position sensor that exceeds the maximum expected physical range (Signal Range Check - SRC high). This is typically caused by a short circuit to the battery/power supply in the sensor circuit, a failed sensor, or a physically stuck throttle valve.

   Visually inspect the intake throttle valve for carbon buildup, sticking, or physical damage

   Check the supply and ground reference circuits for the throttle valve position sensor

   Disconnect the wiring harness from the intake throttle sensor, turn the key switch to the ON position, and test the pins for a short circuit to the battery

   Clean the Valve

   If the valve is merely stuck due to soot/carbon, perform the OEM 'Throttle Valve Actuator (TVA) - Cleaning' procedure.

   Disconnect electrical connections

   If cleaning fails or the sensor is shorted, disconnect the electrical connections to the Throttle Valve Actuator (TVA) and the adjacent air pressure/temperature sensor.

   Remove intake tube

   Remove the intake tube connected to the TVA.

   Remove faulty actuator

   Remove the mounting bolts and nuts securing the TVA to the intake, then remove the faulty Throttle Valve Actuator.

   Install new actuator

   Install the new Throttle Valve Actuator and reinstall the intake tube.

   Torque mounting hardware

   Tighten the mounting bolts and nuts to 20 - 30 N·m (15 - 22 lb ft).

   Reconnect harnesses

   Reconnect all electrical harnesses.
