New Holland ENG 3844 – Engine Control Unit (ECU / EDC): Injector - Zero Fuel Calibration by Lambda (ZFL): DFC reporting error state on comparing energizing time to Max value injector 1.

The engine control system has detected that the energizing time required for Injector 1 has exceeded the maximum allowable limit during the zero fuel calibration process. This fault is typically generated because the injector programming is incorrect (e.g., wrong IMA code in the ECU) or because Injector 1 has suffered an internal mechanical or electrical defect.

   Check ECU programming, especially if the Engine ECU was recently replaced or flashed, as self-learning parameters and injector codes may have been lost or entered incorrectly.

   Connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) using the Easy-Engine software to verify the IMA code.

   Read the 7-digit IMA (Injector Calibration) code stamped directly on the body of Injector 1 and compare this physical code to the injector code programmed into the ECU for cylinder 1.

   Reprogram if Necessary

   If the IMA code in the ECU does not match the code printed on Injector 1, use the EST to program the correct 7-digit code into the ECU. Clear the fault code and run the machine to see if the Zero Fuel Calibration completes successfully.

   Replace Injector

   If the programmed code is correct but fault ENG 3844 persists, Injector 1 has an internal defect and must be replaced.

   Remove and Install

   Depressurize the fuel system, remove the high-pressure fuel lines, and extract Injector 1. Install the new OEM replacement injector with new sealing washers.

   Code the New Injector

   You must use the New Holland EST to program the new injector's 7-digit IMA code into the Engine ECU. If this step is skipped, the ECU cannot match injection quantities cylinder-by-cylinder, and the fault will return.

   Clear and Test

   Clear the fault codes using the diagnostic tool and perform a test run to allow the ECU to restore its self-learning parameters.
