ENG 3847

New Holland ENG 3847 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Zero Fuel Calibration by Lambda (ZFL): DFC reporting error state on comparing energizing time to Max value injector 4.

Issue description

This fault is generated when the programming for fuel injector #4 is incorrect. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects a mismatch or error state when comparing the injector's energizing time to its maximum allowed value. This failure is typically the result of either incorrect programming/flashing of the ECU or an internal mechanical/electrical defect within the fuel injector itself.

Applies to these machines

  • L220
  • SR175
  • SR270
  • SV300
  • SV340
  • TR340
  • TV380
  • B90B
  • B100B
  • T5.100
  • T5.110
  • T5.120

Check the cause

  1. Connect the New Holland Electronic Service Tool (EST) with Easy-Engine software to the machine's diagnostic port.

  2. Navigate to the injector programming section and check the injector code currently programmed for cylinder #4.

  3. Physically inspect fuel injector #4 and verify that the alphanumeric code printed on the injector matches the code programmed in the ECU.

Repair steps

  1. Reprogram the ECU

If the diagnostic check reveals that the injector code in the ECU does not match the physical injector, use the EST to reprogram the engine control unit to the proper injector code.

  2. Flash the ECU

If the codes match but the error persists, try to re-flash the ECU to rule out software corruption.

  3. Replace the Injector

If reprogramming and flashing the ECU do not resolve the fault, the code indicates an internal defect of the injector. You must remove and replace fuel injector #4.

  4. Program the New Injector

After installing the new injector, use the EST to program the new injector's specific calibration code into the ECU.

  5. Clear and Test

Clear the fault codes and run the engine to verify the repair.
