New Holland ENG 3850 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Injector - Zero Fuel Calibration by Lambda (ZFL): DFC reporting error state on comparing energizing time to Minimum value injector 3.

This fault is generated when the engine control system detects that the programming for the cylinder 3 fuel injector is incorrect. The failure is typically the result of either incorrect programming/flashing of the ECU (the injector calibration code in the software does not match the physical injector) or an internal mechanical/electrical defect within the injector itself.

   Connect the CNH Electronic Service Tool (EST) with the Easy-Engine software to the machine's diagnostic port

   Navigate to the injector programming section

   Physically inspect the fuel injector on cylinder 3 and locate its 7-digit IMA (injector calibration) code printed on the injector body

   Compare the physical IMA code on the injector to the code programmed into the ECU for cylinder 3

   Reprogram the ECU

   If the IMA code in the ECU does not match the physical injector on cylinder 3, use the EST software to reprogram the engine control unit to the proper injector code.

   Flash the ECU

   Try to flash/update the ECU to ensure the software is operating correctly.

   Replace the Injector

   If the correct code is already programmed, or if reprogramming does not clear the ENG 3850 fault, the cylinder 3 injector has an internal defect and must be replaced.

   Code the New Injector

   After physically installing the new injector, you must use the diagnostic tool to program the new 7-digit IMA calibration code into the engine ECU so that injection quantities are properly matched for that cylinder.
