New Holland ENG 3852 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Lambda Sensor: The maximum allowed time for blow out is exceeded.

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) monitors the heat-up phase of the exhaust gas oxygen (Lambda) sensor. If the ECU detects insufficient heater performance from the oxygen sensor and it takes too long to reach its operating temperature (the "blow out" phase), this fault code is triggered.

   Verify if the fault code is currently active or intermittent to rule out temporary wiring issues

   Inspect the turbocharger and exhaust line for leaks, cracks, or improper attachment, as exhaust leaks near the sensor can affect its ability to heat up properly

   Inspect the 5-wire connector and harness going to the Lambda sensor for corrosion, melting, or physical damage

   Ensure the machine is turned off and the exhaust system has completely cooled down to prevent burns.

   Safety precaution before beginning work on the exhaust system.

   Inspect the turbo and exhaust connections.

   If any exhaust leaks are found, repair the connections or replace the gaskets.

   Determine if the internal heater of the Lambda sensor has failed.

   If the exhaust system is intact and the fault code is active, the internal heater of the Lambda sensor has failed.

   Disconnect the Lambda sensor wiring harness.

   Prepare for sensor removal.

   Remove the faulty Lambda sensor from the exhaust pipe.

   Extract the old sensor.

   Install the new Lambda sensor.

   Apply anti-seize to the threads if not pre-applied by the manufacturer and torque to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect the wiring harness.

   Ensure the 5-wire connector is securely attached.

   Clear the fault codes from the Engine ECU using a diagnostic tool and run the engine.

   Verify the sensor heats up within the allowed time and the code does not return.
