New Holland ENG 435 – Engine Controller (ENG): Oil Pressure data invalid

The engine control module is receiving an erratic, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the engine oil pressure sensor/switch, meaning it cannot accurately determine the engine's current oil pressure.

   Verify actual engine oil pressure using a mechanical gauge to rule out actual mechanical failure (low oil pressure is an engine killer)

   Inspect the oil pressure sensor connection (typically located on the engine block, often to the bottom left of the oil filter housing)

   Check the sensor's electrical connector for moisture, corrosion, or a broken spade lug/wire, which commonly causes an invalid data or open-circuit signal

   Locate the Sensor

   Find the oil pressure switch/sensor threaded into the engine block or oil filter housing.

   Disconnect

   Carefully unplug the weather-sealed electrical connector from the sensor.

   Remove

   Use a wrench to unthread the old sensor from the engine block. Have a rag ready to catch any residual oil.

   Prepare the New Sensor

   Apply a thread sealant rated for oil contact to the threads of the new sensor (if it does not come pre-applied with thread locker). Caution: Do not use excessive sealant, as it can block the sensor's pressure port.

   Install

   Thread the new sensor into the block and tighten it to the manufacturer's specification.

   Reconnect & Test

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the engine, check for oil leaks around the new sensor's threads, and verify that the ENG 435 fault code has cleared.
