New Holland IC 1025 – IC (Instrument Cluster): Foot Throttle Sensor: Out of Range - Short to Power

The voltage signal returning from the foot throttle position sensor is higher than the maximum allowable threshold. The system detects that the sensor's signal circuit is shorted to a power source (such as a 5V reference or 12V battery voltage), or that the sensor has failed internally, causing it to output an out-of-range high voltage.

   Turn the key switch to the OFF position

   Disconnect the main harness connector from the Instrument Cluster (IC) / Engine Control Unit (ECU)

   Disconnect the connector at the foot throttle sensor (pedal)

   Turn the key switch to the ON position

   Using a digital multimeter, probe the throttle signal wire at the controller's harness connector and check for voltage against the machine ground

   Evaluate Results: If voltage is indicated, there is a short to power in the wire harness between the pedal and the controller. If no voltage is indicated, the harness is good, meaning the foot throttle sensor itself is internally shorted and has failed

   Trace harness

   [If the harness is shorted] Trace the main wiring harness from the foot pedal up to the instrument cluster/controller.

   Inspect harness

   [If the harness is shorted] Inspect for areas where the wire loom may have rubbed against the chassis, melted, or pinched, causing the signal wire to contact a live power wire.

   Repair harness

   [If the harness is shorted] Repair the damaged section of the wiring harness using appropriate splice connectors and heat shrink, or replace the affected harness section entirely.

   Disconnect battery

   [If the sensor is faulty] Turn the machine off and disconnect the battery ground.

   Unplug connector

   [If the sensor is faulty] Unplug the electrical connector from the foot throttle pedal assembly.

   Unbolt pedal

   [If the sensor is faulty] Unbolt the foot throttle pedal assembly from the floorplate.

   Install new pedal

   [If the sensor is faulty] Install the new foot throttle sensor/pedal assembly and secure the mounting bolts.

   Reconnect battery

   [If the sensor is faulty] Reconnect the electrical connector and the battery.

   Clear fault code

   [If the sensor is faulty] Turn the key ON and clear the inactive IC 1025 fault code using the instrument cluster menu or a diagnostic service tool. Test the pedal to ensure smooth RPM increase without triggering the code.
