New Holland IC 1031 – IC / VCM: Hand Throttle Sensor: Out of Range - Short to Ground / Open Circuit

The control module is receiving a voltage signal from the hand throttle sensor that has fallen below the minimum acceptable operating threshold (typically under 0.25V or 0.5V) for more than 5 seconds. This indicates that the sensor's signal wire is physically broken (open circuit), shorted to a ground source, or the sensor itself has failed internally.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the hand throttle sensor and the Instrument Cluster (or VCM) for chafed wires, pinched sections, or disconnected plugs.

   Disconnect the hand throttle sensor and check for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-out pins inside the connector.

   Using a multimeter, verify that the sensor is receiving a steady 5-volt reference supply and has a good ground from the control module.

   Check the signal wire for continuity back to the IC/VCM and ensure it is not shorted to the chassis ground.

   Disconnect the electrical pigtail and remove the faulty hand throttle assembly.
