New Holland IC 1201 – IC / EIC: Hydraulic Oil Filter Restriction: Open Circuit

The control module has detected a break in the continuous electrical path (an open circuit) either within the hydraulic oil filter restriction switch itself or in the wiring harness connecting the switch to the module.

   Locate the hydraulic oil filter restriction switch on the hydraulic filter base.

   Disconnect the filter sensor wire (DKGN/O wire) from the sender.

   Observe the Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC). The EIC board lights should all illuminate and the board should beep when this wire is disconnected.

   If the EIC lights and beeps: The open circuit is internal to the sensor, meaning the sensor has failed and must be replaced.

   If the EIC fails to light and beep: Trace the wire from the sensor back to the EIC to find the broken wire (open circuit) or troubleshoot the EIC board itself.

   Safety First

   Raise the loader boom and properly support it on the boom lock pins.

   Access the Switch

   Open the rear door, raise the top engine shield, and remove the right engine side shield to gain access to the hydraulic filter base and switch.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Disconnect the electrical harness/wires and any harness clamps attached to the hydraulic oil filter restriction switch.

   Remove the Switch

   Unscrew the restriction switch from the hydraulic oil filter base. (Note: Have a clean catch pan ready, as a small amount of hydraulic oil may leak).

   Install the New Part

   Thread the new restriction switch into the filter base and tighten.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical connector to the new switch. Reinstall all engine shields and lower the boom.

   Verify

   Turn the key on to verify the IC 1201 code has cleared.
