   Use an Electronic Service Tool (EST) to clear all fault codes, then start and operate the machine to see if fault code 4043 returns

   Visually inspect the wiring and connectors leading to the hydraulic oil temperature sender for physical damage, rubbing, or corrosion

   Disconnect the sender connector (X-OILTMP) and the Instrument Cluster connector (X-C23)

   Check the continuity of the signal wire between the sender and the Instrument Cluster

   Test the signal wire for a short to ground by checking for continuity between the signal wire and the chassis ground

   Repair Wiring

   If your multimeter test reveals a short to ground in the wiring harness between the sender and the Instrument Cluster, locate the chafed or pinched wire and repair or replace that section of the harness.

   Replace the Sender

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly fine, the internal circuitry of the Hydraulic Oil Temperature Sender has failed (shorted closed). Relieve any residual pressure in the hydraulic system, locate the sender, unplug the electrical connector, unthread the old sender and quickly install the new sender to minimize fluid loss, then reconnect the electrical harness.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the Electronic Service Tool, clear the IC 4043 fault code, and run the machine to verify that the hydraulic oil temperature registers correctly on the dash and the code does not return.
