The machine's hour meter data is stored using a triple-redundancy safeguard within the memory chip. This code indicates that the data stored in the first of these three memory locations has become corrupted or damaged.

   Connect the Electronic Service Tool (EST) to the machine's service plug to establish communication with the cluster.

   Check for companion codes IC 9005 (Location 2 Corrupt) or IC 9006 (Location 3 Corrupt), which indicate a total memory failure.

   Attempt a software update or reflash of the Instrument Cluster via the EST to see if the memory corruption can be overwritten.

   Disconnect battery

   Turn off the machine's ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Remove mounting hardware

   Remove the mounting hardware securing the instrument cluster panel to the cab interior.

   Disconnect wiring harness

   Carefully pull the cluster forward and disconnect the main wiring harness connector from the back of the unit.

   Install new cluster

   Connect the wiring harness to the new replacement Instrument Cluster and mount it back into the cab panel.

   Reconnect battery

   Reconnect the negative battery cable.

   Program new cluster

   Connect the EST to the machine. You must program the new instrument cluster, as replacement clusters do not come with software preloaded due to their dependency on the specific machine model they are installed in.
