New Holland ICU 14003 – ICU (Instrumentation Control Unit): Hyd oil filter switch closed to ground on power up.

The controller is detecting a grounded circuit from the hydraulic oil filter restriction switch immediately when the machine is powered on (key ON, engine OFF). Because there is no hydraulic flow or pressure on power-up, the switch should not be triggered. This condition indicates either a switch that is mechanically stuck closed or a short-to-ground in the wiring harness.

   Turn Key OFF and locate the hydraulic oil filter switch (connector X-OILFLT) on the hydraulic filter housing.

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.

   Turn Key ON and check active fault codes. If ICU 14003 goes inactive (or changes to an open-circuit code), the switch has failed internally (stuck closed).

   If ICU 14003 remains active while unplugged, inspect the wiring harness. Trace the signal wire from the switch back to the ICU, looking for chafed or pinched areas shorting directly to the frame/ground.

   Turn the ignition OFF and ensure the machine is parked safely.

   If the diagnostic checks point to a wiring failure, locate the short-to-ground in the harness, repair the wire, and seal it with heat shrink.

   If the switch is faulty, clean the area around the hydraulic filter housing to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Unplug the X-OILFLT electrical connector.

   Unscrew and remove the faulty hydraulic oil filter switch.

   Have a rag ready to catch any residual hydraulic oil drips.

   Thread the new OEM switch into the housing and tighten it.

   Reconnect the electrical connector.

   Turn the key ON to verify that the ICU 14003 code has cleared and does not return on power-up.
